Bristol Technology Festival is set to showcase Bristol’s world-class tech sector from the 2nd-10th November. This exciting project will pull together new and events under one umbrella, and needed a new website to help spread the word. That’s where we came in.
The festival aims to raise the profile of the city internationally, as well as making tech jobs and entrepreneurship more accessible to local people. It’s a collaborative venture from Engine Shed, Hargreaves Lansdown, TechSPARK, Bristech, The Bristol Technology Showcase, Silicon Gorge, South-west Founders and SETsquared Bristol.
We were approached by Nic Sturge to create a bespoke website for the event back in March of this year, and jumped at the chance to help out. We know from running our own events, Smart Cookies (Previously Design/Build/Market), how many great connections can be made and insights gleaned when a community comes together.
In a reflection of the collaborative spirit of the festival, we made the project part of our training process for junior developers. Our newest developer Jelena created the site from scratch, getting the opportunity to work alongside big names and add a significant project to her CV.
The result is a WordPress site that TechSPARK can easily change or build on. Designed with the end-users in mind, event information is featured prominently and sections are easy to navigate.
“Thanks to all the CookiesHQ team for a fantastic job. We could not have asked for a more engaged, responsive and professional working relationship, as well as an excellent website!”
Nick Sturge, Director of Engine Shed
With the website launched earlier this month, the festival’s founders have put out a call for new events to be staged under the festival umbrella. We will be hosting an event ourselves, centred around the subject of accessibility. You can purchase your tickets here.
