I’ve always worked in technology and loved it. I love how incredible solutions to problems can be built from just a laptop, I love how it can be used to reach people around the globe. But when it comes to me actually coding anything, or knowing what’s wrong with a back-end system… well there’s me stumped.
We often get asked, “what exactly is a software development agency?” “So you guys… build websites?” “So CookiesHQ can build my app? How?”
We do much more than code. So here is my description from someone who’s part of the team at CookiesHQ (but who isn’t actually a developer) about what we actually do without the tech jargon.
We build digital solutions to problems
CookiesHQ is first and foremost a digital problem solver. Before we start working on building a product, we make sure that we sit down with our clients to really drill down on the problem the entrepreneur or business is solving for its customers.
This isn’t just so we can understand our clients and the project: We are involved in the development, design and testing of the products we build. It’s important for us to understand the problem at hand so that we can provide our own insights (CookiesHQ has been running for 9 years so almost always has something to bring to the table).
We want to make sure that whatever we build for our clients, it addresses and solves the end customers problem. This is so you stay in business for longer, don’t spend money on useless features and that your business is a success with your customers!
“If you need a serious team that understands your startup needs, go with these guys!” Chris Edwards, Co-founder and CEO of Good Sixty
What are those digital solutions? In a nutshell, we build websites and mobile applications
There are so many different terms given to tech products and to simplify it I can tell you that we build websites and mobile apps. Within reason, whatever your idea might be, we can build it. You can take a look at some of our clients to get a taste of our work. A great example is Good Sixty, who came to us with an idea and a design prototype, which we helped translate into an MVP (that’s the most basic version of their product they could use to test the validity of their idea) which was then easily scaled to accommodate thousands of customers in the South of the UK.
Other examples of apps we have built from scratch would be Pulsenotes, an online revision platform for medical students or Card Nest, a greeting card e-commerce site and subscription app.
“Thanks to all the CookiesHQ team for a fantastic job. We could not have asked for a more engaged, responsive and professional working relationship, as well as an excellent website!”Nick Sturge, Director of Engine Shed
We don’t just help startups, we also build useful programmes to add to your current technologies
You may already have a product, but you’re looking to diversify your offering to your customers and don’t know how to build it. You may want to pivot but don’t have the technical knowledge to hire in-house developers to make the changes. Or maybe you have a reeeeally slow website and just need someone to come in and make everything better again (we actually wrote some tips on how to speed up your WordPress website here). CookiesHQ can help with all of this.
We’re quite used to getting involved with teams who already have a digital product that’s serving their customers. We can work alongside developers who are already working in a business or work as a company’s external tech team. Basically, we are a group of developers who are there at your disposal when you need them!
“We were looking for a development partner that shared our desire to create a game-changing user proposition at speed. CookiesHQ’s track record and passion for our project convinced us we could do great things together.”George Rendel, Founder of Examfit
We provide insights into businesses
Product planning. Digital assessments. Website optimizations. SEO. 🤯
Maybe you just need someone to come in and help you plan for the future and do a complete analysis of your current tech. It can be as simple as making a list of things that are wrong, and mapping out what the most pressing changes should be. As an example, what happens to your app when you decide to trade in Europe next year? Would your current product be able to handle the increase in visits? Is your payment system EU compliant?
We can provide insights into your business, and give you the peace of mind that a trusted partner has got your back.
We speak English not code so that we can stay friends
We understand how intimidating it can be to be surrounded by technical wizzes when you have little knowledge of code (trust me, I would know!). Here at CookiesHQ, we love to have coffees and chats with people so that we can hear about their exciting product ideas in a relaxed environment. We make sure that we speak English, not code, to our clients who may not have a technical background. The fact that so many of the companies we have worked with have stayed in touch and keep coming back to us for help with their product speaks for itself: We make friends with our clients.
“Working with Cookies is always interesting and fun – at the end of every week, we are always amazed to see just how much they have achieved, and how they have produced something that makes a real impact on the business. The team really understand our ideas and what we want to achieve, and always have positive inputs.”Rachel Plummer, Product owner at Gap Medics
In a nutshell, we are a team of developers, creatives and project managers and we can offer you more than just design, code and tests. We can become your technical partner and offer you peace of mind, allowing you to focus on the planning and growth of your business.
