Who wants to be stuck in an office when it’s this warm outside? Not us!
Here are our top 5 places for catching some sun while you work – tried and tested by the CookiesHQ team.
The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer
This dimly-lit pub has a secret sunny roof garden with plenty of seating – not to mention the biggest selection of craft beers in Bristol.
Refurbished in 2016, the terrace makes a perfect hideaway for working hard (or people watching from above).
Pros – More craft beers than you can shake a stick at.
Cons – The street below can get noisy as the after work crowd arrive.
The Spotted Cow
This Bedminster institution plays host to plenty of events during the summer, not least the graffiti festival Upfest.
But on weekdays it’s simply a laid-back pub with a lush garden – the perfect spot for getting your projects done.
Pros – Massive lawn areas with quiet nooks for working.
Cons – It’s pet-friendly so you may get distracted by cute dogs.
The Pump House
In need of inspiration? You may well find it in the impressive surroundings of this converted Victorian pumping station, now an attractive bar and restaurant.
Arrive earlier in the day to get a seat on the sun-trap terrace.
Pros – Outdoor wifi and lots of space.
Cons – It’s a little further out of the centre (but worth the trek).
The Grain Barge
If you fancy some fresh air and a view of the harbour, this boat-turned-bar is for you. Pulling a long work day? Stick about for some music, a quiz or an intriguing science talk.
It’s worth hanging about just for the sunset.
Pros – Quirky environment and stunning views.
Cons – Can be a little cramped when busy.
Club Haus
This café doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s the closest you’ll get to the river in central Bristol.
As it’s based in the Vivo Sports Club, you’ll find plenty of healthy food like porridge and smoothies (don’t worry – there’s fry-ups too).
Pros – Big patio doors that let in lots of light and seating right next to the water.
Cons – The drab 70s exterior of the building.
Honourable mentions go to Beese’s Riverside Bar, The Ostrich and The Mall.
