Our next Design / Build / Market will take place early February. This time we’ll discuss blogging and social media. Come along!
What is DBM?
We created Design / Build / Market as a way to focus on bringing people together to collaborate through combined knowledge. It’s an event we hold quarterly and we showcase topics that are useful for everyone. DBM aims to be an inclusive event, that promotes discussion between disciplines to devise better solutions for all aspects of the creative process. We invite influencers in the industry, who have expertise in the topic at hand to share their experiences and knowledge. Those speakers will discuss the importance of:
Design – looking at all aspects, from graphic to digital, as well as the behaviour and psychology of design.
Build – focusing on the process of development, problem-solving, specialist areas and a variety of platforms.
Market – how to improve your content, increase your community and build a brand.
This year we have already talked about Virtual Reality and MVPs and early-stage startups. Whether you’re a professional, an entrepreneur, freelancer or student, there will be something for everyone – it’ll also be a great opportunity for you to meet new people and make connections. Oh, did we mention there’s pizza?
What are we discussing?
This time around we’re diving into social media and blogging. Blogging for many has continued to thrive and more people these days are using blogs as a platform to share their passions, lifestyle and for some their business. Social media has undoubtedly become one of the biggest giants of the internet, leaving its competitors in its dust. But, for those utilising both platforms, does blogging still hold relevance for their business? Does social media dominate how customers engage with their brand?
Well, that’s what we want to know!
Who is speaking?
We will have an array of speakers, ranging from self-employed business entrepreneurs to content creators and CEOs. They will be discussing their experiences with social media and blogging and how it’s helped or hindered their business.
Our main speaker is Emily Perkins, who is the Creative Content Manager at Oggadoon. Emily specialises in copy, branding and process and has almost a decade of writing experience behind her. She is most passionate about authentic stories. Stories that demand to be told, influenced through the written and spoken word and engaging directly with Social Media.
We already have 3 panelists confirmed:
• Sonja Jefferson, Founder, Marketing coach and content strategist at Valuable Content.
• Gemma Hampton, Self Employed Artist at Gemma Hampton Illustration.
• Neil Elliott, Co-Founder of Patternbank, an online textile print studio and trend forecasting site.
Why a panel of speakers?
We figured the best way to get the most out of this event, was to gather together a group of diverse individuals from varying business backgrounds, to get the most knowledge as possible. You not only get to hear some of our burning questions get answered, but you also get the opportunity to ask questions of your own. These events are all about networking and building knowledge, so what better way to do that then have these people who all have their own insight, share their experiences with us all. Whether you are working for a company creating blog content, a self-employed social media influencer or a little bit in-between, we are sure you will benefit from what this evening has to offer.
When?
Thursday, February 8th at 7pm.
Where?
The Junction Room at the Engine Shed, which you’ll find right next to Bristol Temple Meads train station.
